Mortlach
Known as the 'Beast of Dufftown,' Mortlach is unique for its incredibly complex '2.81 distillation' process—a numerical anomaly where the spirit is distilled in three different types of stills a specific number of times. This results in a single malt that is exceptionally meaty, robust, and full-bodied, contrasting with the typically light Speyside style. It was the first legal distillery in Dufftown and has long been a secret ingredient for high-end blends like Johnnie Walker. Today, it is celebrated as a standalone malt for its savory, muscular character and its ability to stand up to heavy Sherry cask maturation.
